Damage Assessment: Investigating Fires, Explosions and Storm Damage in Chemical Plants (MTI Member Special Offer)

Dale R. McIntyre

Materials Technology Institute first published "Guidelines for Assessing Fire and Explosion Damage" in 1990 and republished the book in hardcover in 1996 with essentially the same technical content. The practices of incident investigation and damage assessment have changed since MTI's "Guidelines for Assessing Fire and Explosion Damage" was first published. MTI members suggested that the organization of the information could be improved along with greater focus on the subjects related to creation of a response team and specific requirements and actions immediately after such an event. The MTI document focuses on industrial settings, such as chemical processing, refining, petrochemical, paper, pharmaceutical and allied industries. Subject matter and industry experts were used to develop the guidelines and the text. The guidelines represent the consensus of these experts and are not the sole view of the author. Subsequent revisions to these guidelines are envisioned as practices and technologies advance.
